Films Are Dependent On Literature, Not Vice-Versa Says Anubhav Sinha

Mumbai, 20th March 2023 (NewsHelpline) – Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha says films are dependent on books or literature, not vice-versa, and making a film based on book, doesn’t help with book with validation. 

 

Anubhav Sinha was interacting with NewsHelpline during the launch of book ‘Why Elephants Can’t Be Red’ by Vani Tripathi Tikoo. 

 

Celebrities such as Divya Dutta, Gitikka Ganju Dhar, Prahlad Kakkar, Sudhir Mishra, Faisal Malik, Rahul Rawail, Onir, Deepa Sahi, Ketan Mehta, Abhishek Chaubey and actors Sushant Singh and Amruta Subhash, were there to cheer her at the launch.

 

When asked about adapting a book into film, sort of help validate the author, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha said, “People tends to put a lot of weightage when a book is made into a film, anyone who has seen Godfather, and the people who has seen the film and read the book, they would tell you that they liked the book far better than the film, which in itself is a bible” 

 

“I don’t think it is a validation for a book when it is converted into a movie, or value of book improves, I don’t think so, if books are written and they are read, and if we starts with kids, when kids start reading books, nothing is better than that. Film is dependent on book, films are dependent on literature” added Anubhav. 

 

While Vani’s good friend, ad guru Prahlad Kakkar unveiled the book, Divya Dutta read an excerpt from it and actor Gitikka Ganju Dhar anchored the conversation. 

 

Meanwhile on the work front, Anubhav Sinha is promoting his directorial Bheed, based on migrant workers during lockdown, starring stars Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Ashutosh Rana, Pankaj Kapur and Kritika Kamra.
