The film is written and directed by NS Ponkumar, 1947 August 16 borrows its title from the date that marks one day after India gained independence from the British colonial rulers.
The film tells the tale of a remote village where one man battles British forces. The trailer will be out tomorrow.
The film marks the acting debut of Revathy, it is AR Murugadoss, Om Prakash Bhatt and Narsiram Choudhary. The film's technical crew includes music by Sean Roldan, Selvakumar SK cranking the camera, and Sudharsan on the edit.
The film also stars Pugazh, Richard Ashton, Jason Shah, and others. The Pan India film opens in cinema halls on 7th April 2023.
