Honorable Members of Trans Nzoia County Assembly (MCA) met with Health Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Nakhumicha Susan, at Afya House to discuss a range of health-related matters.

Dr. Susan urged the MCA’s to take legislative action that would enhance and strengthen the health sector in Trans Nzoia, in order to improve the quality of healthcare services provided to the local community.

One of the key areas discussed was the promotion of enrollment in the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) among locals.

Dr. Susan called on the MCA’s to be good ambassadors in encouraging the residents of Trans Nzoia to enroll in the program, which would not only provide them with access to affordable healthcare but also ease the burden on referral hospitals.

She said the Ministry of Health is committed to supporting local health facilities to offer quality healthcare services and reduce the need for referrals to higher-level facilities.

“Through collaboration with the county government and other stakeholders, the ministry aims to improve the health status of Trans Nzoia residents and ensure equitable access to healthcare services,” she noted.
