Egypt: President El-Sisi Follows-up on Development of Damietta Furniture City

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Trade and Industry Eng. Ahmed Samir, Governor of Damietta Dr. Manal Awad, President’s Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Director General of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) Major General Walid Abul-Magd and Chairman of Damietta Furniture Company Major General Hazem Hadhoud.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said the meeting followed-up on the President’s directives to continue dialogue with the community in Damietta that works in the furniture industry. This is in order to continue current efforts to develop the Damietta Furniture City to become an integrated industrial city, given Damietta's renown in this field, in addition to the President’s directives to support the development of this industry so as to enable it compete at the regional and international levels. This shall create more job opportunities in this sector for the people in Damietta and increase Egyptian exports and the national income.

President El-Sisi was briefed on the various stages of implementation and development of the Furniture City, in accordance with the highest standards of quality, as well as the manufacturing, logistical and service needs. The President gave directives to continue coordination among the concerned authorities and continue intensive work to ensure the success of this important project.
