Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian held a meeting with visiting lawmakers of the Iran-Niger Friendship Group, led by Ahmadu al-Hamdu.
During the meeting, Amirabdollahian stressed Iran’s position on the expansion of relations with African states, saying mutual visits by parliamentary delegations can set the stage for the promotion of ties and visits by senior officials of the two countries.
He said Iran sees no limits to the expansion of ties with African countries, including Niger, and that the two countries have a variety of capacities for the enhancement of relations.
The top Iranian diplomat called for the activation of the Joint Iran-Niger Economic Commission.
For his part, Ahmadu al-Hamdu the head of the Iran-Niger Friendship Group described his meetings and talks at the Iranian Parliament as useful, emphasizing the eagerness of African states to expand ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He said one of the goals of the friendship group’s visit to Iran is to explore the grounds for the broadening of ties, expressing hope that new ways will be opened for bolstering bilateral ties in all fields with the help of Iranian lawmakers.
