Kangana Ranaut was interacting with NewsHelpline during Emergency wrap-up party in Mumbai.
Talking about the film and its mammoth budget, Kangana said, “The idea is to boost this struggling industry, we all are trying to make something big and better, so that the audience comeback to the cinema halls”
“I have heard that Pathaan film is doing great, films like this must work, Hindi films is trying to struggle through a rough patch, and even we’re also trying to make something worthwhile” added Kangana.
Emergency marks the second directorial for Kangana, she has had her fair share of troubles to complete the film and credits Anupam Kher and Satish Kaushik for supporting her unconditionally.
She added, “Had a hard time shooting the film, but people like Anupam Kher and Satish Kaushik are pillars of strength. We all know there are bad people as well, who are trying to stump you, but then there are good people as well, and I am fortunate to find some good people”
The biographical drama is based on the 1977 Indian Emergency, it stars Ranaut as former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. The film also features Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman in pivotal roles. The film is scheduled to release theatrically worldwide on 20 October 2023.
