The Spokesman for the Presidency said the two leaders held a closed session of talks, during which Prime Minister Modi welcomed President El-Sisi as a dear guest and expressed his country's great appreciation for the President and his wise leadership that maintained security and stability in Egypt after incidents of chaos and violence in the aftermath of what was known as the Arab Spring. He also noted the unprecedented development renaissance in Egypt, adding that India’s leadership and people are honored to host the President, as a high-level guest of honor at celebrations marking the establishment of the Indian Republic. He explained that President El-Sisi’s participation adds special value to the celebrations.
President El-Sisi extended his congratulations on the occasion of India's Republic Day. The President expressed his appreciation for receiving Prime Minister Modi’s invitation to participate as a guest of honor at the celebrations, as well as the warm reception and generous hospitality he received, demonstrating the great rapprochement and mutual appreciation between the two countries, in light of the strong and distinct historical relations between Egypt and India. The President expressed Egypt's mutual interest in developing and advancing these relations in all fields, continuing political coordination and consultation between the two countries and exploring aspects of cooperation.
The Spokesman added that talks touched on ways to enhance bilateral ties at various levels. Prime Minister Modi looked forward to enhancing mutual investments in a number of sectors and maximizing trade between the two countries, through the participation of Indian companies in the implementation of mega national projects in Egypt.
The President welcomed boosting cooperation with India across various fields, given the two counties’ huge potential that provide diverse promising opportunities, particularly at the military, economic, trade, tourism and cultural levels. This is, in addition to cooperation in the sectors of communications and IT and the production of medicines and vaccines.
The talks also focused on developments in various regional and international issues of mutual interest. In this regard, the Indian Prime Minister lauded Egypt’s positive role in efforts to politically settle the ongoing crises in its regional milieu as well as its efforts to combat terrorism and extremist ideology and to reinforce the principles and values of acceptance of the other, freedom of choice and tolerance.
Following the meeting, the two leaders participated in a ceremony for the exchange of a multitude of Memoranda of Understanding, MoUs, between the two countries in the areas of IT, cybersecurity, youths and sports, broadcast, and culture. President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Modi later held a joint press conference, where the President delivered a speech on this occasion.
