On January 11, 2023 local time, when attending the completion ceremony of the Headquarters of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), Foreign Minister Qin Gang said that the Africa CDC headquarters building project was a flagship project of cooperation with Africa announced by President Xi Jinping at the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and another landmark project of China-Africa cooperation following the African Union Conference Center. Since the onset of the pandemic, China and Africa have overcome difficulties, inaugurated the project in advance, and fostered a new highlight in China-Africa cooperation.
Qin Gang said that the Africa CDC Headquarters building was delivered to African friends with assured quality in a timely manner, demonstrating high-standard and high-quality China-Africa cooperation, and the Chinese manner of honoring its word and pursuing high efficiency and practicality. Qin Gang expressed his belief that through concerted efforts of China and Africa, the Africa CDC will make greater contributions to Africa's health endeavor and people's health and well-being, and write a new glorious chapter in the history of China-Africa relations.
Qin Gang emphasized that China never pays lip service, let alone forces one's hand. China will successfully transfer the Africa CDC Headquarters to African friends, which will be fully operated and managed by the African Union. If Africa is in need, China will continue to do its utmost to provide support and assistance. Qin Gang said that now behind them the Africa CDC Headquarters stands firmly. It is a great milestone built by the Chinese and African brothers and sisters with their traditional friendship and hard work. It has shown the world with an indisputable fact that China always supports Africa with practical actions and China-Africa relations is sure to have a brighter future.
