Director Ayan Mukerji decodes the Astraverse

Disney+ Hotstar wields the power of the mighty astras with the digital premiere of this year’s biggest blockbuster - ‘Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva’. Viewers can live and relive the grand experience at their own comfort in a choice of their preferred language from Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Releasing on November 4, 2022, the magnum opus is produced by Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Ayan Mukerji & Prime Focus and directed and written by Ayan Mukerji.

Ayan Mukerji, who created the Astraverse, decoding the new cinematic world said , “Astraverse is a new, original cinematic universe, built around the concept of ancient Astras of power (weapons) that exist in the modern world. Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva is the first movie of this Astraverse.”

Connecting the Astraverse to present-day Mumbai, he added , “It takes us into this world of Astras and to the Brahmānsh - the warriors who are sworn to protect these objects of power. It sets up a conflict wherein a mysterious antagonistic force is attacking the Brahmānsh in pursuit of their most valuable possession - the Brahmāstra. This is where we meet Ranbir Kapoor as our protagonist, Shiva. A young man who grew up in an orphanage in Mumbai, who is on the brink of an epic love and an epic destiny.”

Sharing about the character of Shiva, played by Ranbir Kapoor, he said , “He is a new-age hero who does not know that he is tied to the grand destiny of the Brahmāstra and to a power he has unknowingly carried within him, his entire life - the power of Fire!”

This never seen before visual spectacle is headlined by some of the finest actors across the Indian Film Industry such as Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni, among others in a universe which is loved and praised by everyone.
