Srinagar, Aug 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) Two terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit LeT were apprehended from Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora on Thursday and a large cache of arms and ammunition seized from their possession, police said.
"Acting on specific information regarding movement of terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit LeT in jurisdiction of police station Pethkote, police, along with 26 Assam Rifles, established a joint checkpoint near Lal Qilla Mode Pethkote.
"During checking, the joint party intercepted a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK05H-0622 and arrested the two terrorists associates," a police official said.
The two have been identified as Mohd Yousuf Wani, resident of Pethkote, Bandipora and Manzoor Ahmed Shah, resident of Bagh Bandipora.
During search, three pistols along with magazines, 24 9mm rounds, five hand grenades, a fake police identity card, a blanket and a fake Health Department identity card and other daily use items were recovered from the said vehicle.
"During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the arrested duo was in close touch with some active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT and the duo was tasked to revive terror by motivating youth to join terrorist ranks and spread terrorism in the district. Besides, they were also tasked to provide logistic support to terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT. Timely action/arrest of these terrorist associates averted a major terror activity in the district," the police official said.
