Suneel Kumar Reddy who is known for his award-winning films like Sonthavooru, Gangaputrulu, Gulf, and Valasa, has come up with an emotional flick in the backdrop of Naxalism.
Story:
Set up in the time period of the early 90s a prominent Naxalite leader Kondarudra Seetharamayya portrayed by Raghu Kunche decides to quit the fight as he realizes that his age and ill health would cost dear to the revolution. Police are in hot pursuit to eliminate him as he is the reason for the death of many political leaders. As a last wish, he would like to meet his son who he had to abandon due to the risk of being caught in childhood itself. Satya, his son develops a strong liking for his father despite the stigma of being cornered by society. Whether the father and son could meet or not is the remaining story.
Artists performance:
Raghu who played the central character performed his best to bring out the revolutionary and an emotional father. LB Sriram who played the journalist character got a writer-backed role. He wonderfully portrayed the role and gave good support to the narrative. Ajay as a police officer and Subbaraju as Home minister gave gripping performances. Young pair Krishna and Rekha are decent on-screen with energy. Vinay Mahadev who played the son of a journalist evoked some laughter with his black humor.
Technical Values:
The cinematography by Sivaram is top-notch. He captured action sequences quite efficiently. Praveen Immadi 's music elevated the emotional sequences. The editing is crisp. Production values are adequate. The dialogues and Direction of Suneel Kumar Reddy are impressive. He delivered yet another realistic cinema. Overall technically it is decent.
Plus points:
Artists performance
A couple of songs
Dialogues
Direction
Minus points:
Lack of humor.
Outdated Naxalism backdrop.
Sound mixing is not up to the mark.
Verdict:
The producers of this film should be appreciated for coming up with such an emotional subject. It will sure bring in some awards to Telugu cinema. It has the potential to be remade in many languages. It has needed emotions and action episodes. Director approached the subject with honesty not deviating from the plot for the sake of commercialism. There are very less number of films about the bonding of a father and son. This film will be remembered in that space in the future. Post pandemic it may be tough to gain box-office success with lesser-known artists, but it is good content one should not miss.
Bottom line: A salute to every father.
