New Delhi, July 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi Police have arrested a member of Kaala Sahuwasia gang for killing a builder-turned-arms supplier in the national capital, police said on Sunday.
The accused identified as Deepanshu alias Deepak had purchased a weapon from the builder Amit Goel who he later shot dead outside his office at Vikas Tower, Jwala Heri Market.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Rohit Meena said the incident took place at 2:30 p.m. on July 2 when the builder was going from his office to the parking area where his car was parked.
The assailant was car-borne and fired multiple shots at the builder after which the latter was rushed to Balaji Action hospital, Paschim Vihar, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
"There was no clue about the assailant. Later, the car used in committing the crime was found abandoned," the DCP added.
As per the police, the deceased builder was previously involved in two cases related to supply of arms.
"He (the deceased) was a professional shooter and used to import deadly sophisticated automatic weapons under the guise of weapons being imported for the sport related shooting, thus misusing the import policy meant for Indian shooters," the official said.
Considering the sensational nature of the murder, a police team was constituted which after technical analysis identified the suspect as Deepanshu alias Deepak, a resident of Begampur.
On Saturday, the location of the accused Deepanshu was zeroed in Rohtak, Haryana, from where he was eventually intercepted and apprehended along with his friend Bhupender alias Jhokad.
Earlier, Bhupender was lodged in a jail related to a murder case where he met the deceased builder Amit Goel, who was also incarcerated in an Arms Act case. Both Bhupender and Amit Goel were known to each other and the latter promised to supply weapons to the former.
The accused Deepanshu had an old rivalry with a gangster Pardeep Kaasni who was also lodged in a jail.
"The accused Deepanshu heard rumours that Kaasni will soon be released from jail on parole so he decided to take revenge," the police official said.
At the same time, Bhupender was also released from jail and he told the accused Deepanshu about his meeting with Amit Goel in jail.
Goel had also been released from jail at the same time. Therefore to take his revenge, the accused Deepanshu contacted Amit Goel through Bhupender.
"Bhupender alias Jhokad took Deepanshu to Amit Goel, who showed them multiple pictures of sophisticated weapons, one pistol was finalised for Rs two lakh and Deepanshu paid Rs three lakh for the same. After one week Amit Goel delivered the pistol to Deepanshu," the official added.
Later, the accused Deepanshu again paid Rs 10 lakh to Amit Goel to arrange two more automatic pistols but this time Goel failed to deliver it and threatened Deepanshu with dire consequences if he tried to call him again.
Deepanshu got offended over such a threat and decided to kill Goel. Later he fired five bullets at Goel with the same automatic pistol that the latter had given him.
The accused Deepanshu has been arrested as per appropriate section of law and is being produced before the concerned court.
The involvement of Bhupender alias Jhokad in the murder is being probed as he was seen with Deepanshu before the day of murder and was apprehended along with him. He has been handed over to local police for further investigation, the official added.
