Nottinghamshire (England), July 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Nottingham Forest on Sunday announced the signing of left-back Omar Richards from German champions Bayern Munich on a four-year deal.

Former England under 21 international Richards made 17 appearances across all competitions in the 2021/22 season as Bayern Munich clinched a 32nd Bundesliga title and the DFL Supercup in his debut season.

The London-born was initially part of the Fulham pathway but subsequently joined the Reading academy. After making his senior debut for the Royals in the 2017/18 season, he went on to make 104 appearances before making the move to Bavaria.

"I'm thrilled to return to England by joining Nottingham Forest at such an exciting time. The club has enjoyed an incredible last few months and there's great ambitions for the Premier League return," Richards told Forest's official website.

"I've played against Forest in the past and they get such great backing from their fans, whilst the City Ground is an amazing place that I can now call home. I can't wait to join up with the squad this week and begin preparations for the new season," he added.

The 24-year-old will join up with the Forest squad ahead of Tuesday's friendly with Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.

"I've seen a lot of Omar through his time with Reading and, alongside our recruitment team, we have been following his progress in Germany,'' said Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper.

"He previously established himself as one of the best full backs in the Championship, but has since gone on to experience the Champions League and the Bundesliga with one of the biggest clubs in the world. We believe that he can make a big impact in our return to the Premier League and are delighted that he has chosen to join us at Nottingham Forest," he added.

Richards becomes Forest's fifth summer signing after Dean Henderson, Moussa Niakhate, Giuilian Biancone and Taiwo Awoniyi, ahead of their Premier League return.
