Ahmedabad, July 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Since the last two days, heavy rain has lashed parts of Gujarat, specially Valsad, Dangs, Navsari where authorities have evacuated of hundreds after their homes were inundated.
In Valsad town, 50 families were evacuated from Kashmirnagar, Barudiyavas, Peaching point, Tariyaward areas.
On Sunday, Valsad District Collector Kashripra Agre urged people living in low-lying areas to move to safer places as water levels of the Auranga river was increasing as a result of the downpour.
She has deployed an NDRF team in these areas and moved families to shelters where they will be provided food packets and can remain until the water recedes.
The team rescued and evacuated three people who were trapped in Tariyaward.
From Saturday 8 a.m. to Sunday 8 a.m., Dharampur Taluka received 216 mm rain, which was followed by Kaprada (194), Navsari's Vansda (213), Chikhli (197), Khergam (183), Dang's Waghai (160) Subir (147) and Tapi district's Vyara (106).
In 183 other talukas, 1-97 mm of rainfall was recorded
On Sunday, Waghai recorded 95 mm of downpour in just two hours from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., while 49 other talukas received moderate to heavy rain as per the State Emergency Centre data.
Reports from Chhotaudepur in Central Gujarat and Kutch says that some pockets of these districts received very heavy overnight rain, but the situation is under control with no immediate evacuation order in place.
