ENG v IND, 3rd T20I: It is just about isolating every ball, says Reece Topley

Nottingham, July 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Tall England left-arm pacer Reece Topley said his plan in the third T20I against India at Trent Bridge was about isolating every ball of his spell.

In a match were 413 runs were scored overall, Topley was the pick of bowlers from either sides, taking 3/22 in four overs at an economy rate of 5.5, using his slower balls to good effect and was adjudged Player of the Match in England's 17-run consolation win.

"It is just about isolating every ball, some batters are set, some aren't set, come up with a plan that will restrict runs or get a wicket. Each batsman is different and it is just working out a way with the more senior players, coming up with a plan that will make it more difficult. We were never that far away, an unbelievable knock on their side but we had to believe," said Topley after the match.

Topley admitted that in a match where Dawid Malan (77 off 39) and Suryakumar Yadav (117 off 55 balls) shined with the bat, he was irked over being recognised as Player of the Match. "I am pretty miffed to have got this to be honest because there were some great knocks today, but I am happy to have received this award. I was speechless by some of the shots (from Suryakumar). They were just unbelievable. In awe some of them for some time to be honest."

Topley is now optimistically looking forward to more white-ball matches, with ODIs against India followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is against South Africa. "We are only at the beginning of the white ball summer and there is a lot more to come. I am absolutely fit and ready for the summer, long way to go. I am just relishing it."
