Congress demands suspension of cops for beating tribals in Ahmedabad

Ahwa (Gujarat), July 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Congress leaders from the district of Dang in Gujarat have demanded suspension of police personnel, who ruthlessly beat tribal youths in Ahmedabad. The Congress has said if the police fails to take action, the party will launch agitation against it.

Dang's District Congress acting president Snehal Thakare has told local media that six youths have been admitted at the Ahwa government hospital and they are being treated for injuries suffered during police atrocities. Dang police have recorded their statement and First Information Report has been registered and transferred to Kagdapith Police Station in Ahmedabad.

Kagdapith Police Station Officer told IANS that it has not yet received any FIR from Ahwa police.

Due to heavy rains in Dang, government hospital staff and police officers were not reachable.

According to the statement by the tribal youths to the Ahwa police, Ranjit Jadav, Mohan Chuahan and six others were returning from Kutch where they had gone for pomegranate plucking job. After the season concluded, they took bus from Kutch to Ahmedabad. on the night of July 7, they landed at Gita Mandir State transport bus terminal in Ahmedabad.

Here six of them were picked up by the police at Gita Mandir police chowki. The cops checked their luggage and found a scissor and accused them of being members of Dawood Ibrahim gang and started ruthlessly beating them. On pleading, police freed six youths with threats that if they told anybody about this or complained, they will face dire consequences.

After reaching Ahwa, they got admitted in government hospital, where on Saturday these youths alleged that when they were taken to the police chowki, the CCTV system was switched off.

Snehal Thakare has demanded justice for tribal youths and has threatened to launch agitation and protest in Dang, if responsible police officers are not suspended.
