On Monday, 6/6/2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fuad Hussein, received the Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Al Safadi, in Baghdad. During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance consultation and coordination within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism, as well as discuss the developments of implementation of the joint projects between the three brotherly countries. They discussed the latest regional and international developments of common interest, and the developments in the region.
They agreed on the importance of holding continuous meetings to confront challenges and enhance tripartite cooperation. They also discussed the situation in the region and the world, and the common issues concerning the three countries.
The ministers discussed the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on the countries of the region, its negative repercussions globally, and the importance of finding sound resolutions to address this crisis and stop the war.
On his part, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry affirmed that the visit to Iraq is an opportunity to enhance tripartite cooperation, stating that the goal of the tripartite framework is to support Iraq in all fields, emphasizing his country’s position on strengthening Iraq’s position and restoring its stature in the region and the world, adding “we work to form a common vision to confront challenges, pointing out the electrical connection between the three countries has reached advanced stages”.
In addition, the Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi said ” We are here to follow up the tripartite cooperation, stating “that we had the honour today to meet with Iraqi leaders, confirming that the Hashemite Kingdom stands by Iraq to confront its challenges, explaining that Iraq’s security is one of our security, and we are keen on the security and stability of Iraq and enhancing the joint cooperation between our three countries, adding that Jordan had agreed with Iraq on the electrical connection and it will start to be implemented next year, referring to the achievement of a large percentage of the industrial city project”.
