Gunmen attack Nigerian president’s advance team, injure two

Abuja, July 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Two persons in the convoy of cars carrying the advance team of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari were injured in an ambush by gunmen in the country's north region, the presidency said.

The shooting incident occurred on Tuesday near Dustinma, a town in the northern state of Katsina, when the advance team of security guards, protocol, and media officers were going ahead of Buhari's trip to his country home in Daura for the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration, senior presidential spokesman Garba Shehu said in a statement.

"Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura," Xinhua news agency reported quoting Garba Shehu.

The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and secret police personnel accompanying the convoy, Shehu said.
