Mumbai, 25th June 2022 (NewsHelpline) - Known for making Agneepath and Brothers, Filmmaker and screen-writer Karan Malhotra is back with his third movie, Shamshera and clears the air about film being an original screenplay and not inspired from a book.
Karan Malhotra along with Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor were interacting with NewsHelpline on the sidelines of Shamshera trailer launch in Mumbai.
When asked about film being inspired from a book, Karan Malhotra said, “Shamshera is an original screen play, it came from a thought that was given to me by Aditya Chopra, and we elaborated into a story line, and as far as, Vaani Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor’s pairing is concerned, Ranbir was always the first choice for the role and film, because he is someone who brings freshness to this genre film, which is much required today”
“Ranbir Kapoor in a whole new, never before seen avatar is the big USP of the film, and Vaani Kapoor for me, in a classic Hindi cinema scenario, is the prefect heroine. She is brilliant, she is elegant, and she gives you classic big Hindi picture experience” added Karan.
The period drama is set in the 1800s, it tells the story of a dacoit tribe, and their fight for independence against the British rule.
The film is produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, also stars Ashutosh Rana, Saurabh Shukla, Ronit Roy, Tridha Choudhury and Pitobash Tripathy. The film is slated for 22nd July 2022 release.
