With the vision of Lighting up Africa one community at a time, Genesis Energy (www.GenesisEnergyGroup.net) is bringing a delegation to the much-anticipated 9th annual Invest Africa Connect Mining Series (https://bit.ly/3LSaVr8) in Cape Town from the 9th to the 12th May, to exchange ideas on finding ways to a cleaner energy landscape that is inclusive of key industries such as the mining industry.
On the opening day, Invest Africa Connect Mining Series in partnership with Genesis Energy will host a Braai (South African term for grilled meat over an open fire) that will open up a dialogue featuring Founder of Ivanhoe Mines, Robert Friedland, discussing pathways to a low carbon future. Genesis Energy’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Akinwole Omoboriowo II and Chief Development Officer, Dr. Christoph Reimnitz will also be key speakers of this important conversation – sharing the company’s plans to support this transition for mining companies operating in Africa.
The path to net zero is one that no industry should undertake alone. This ambitious target calls for collaboration from significant industries of the economy with support from financiers as we navigate to a low-carbon economy.
“In our range of services, GENESIS provides reliable, affordable, sustainable and environmentally-friendly energy solutions operating on the mix of solar, gas and very recently small-hydro, and we are earnest in displacing the reliance by our industries, small scale enterprises, mini-grids and some national grids of the expensive and environmentally prohibitive fuels,” says Omoboriowo II.
“Being able to work with our customers in delivering the best power solutions requires a solid understanding of available fuel solutions and matching it with the most suitable power generation equipment. This unbiased and flexible approach sets GENESIS apart from many of its competitors.” added Dr. Reimnitz.
Through strategic partnerships with global market leaders in the energy industry including General Electric, Cummins Co-Generation UK, KS Energy, Voith, Jinko Solar etc, GENESIS has developed and continues to manage clean power projects across Africa. Notable projects include; (i) 84MW Gas-Fired distributed power project (DPP) at NNPC’s Port Harcourt Refinery, Nigeria; (ii) Gas-Fired 41MW Independent Power Project in Benin Republic; (iii) Residential Mini-Grids in Nigeria-the 15MW nameplate Banana Island-Ikoyi, Lagos; (iv) recently contracted to finance and operate a 40MWp Solar PV Off-Grid plant in Zimbabwe.
