New Delhi, March 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) Homegrown tech brand ControlZ on Wednesday said it is planning to launch a bio-degradable smartphone -- Uphone -- in India in April.
The company said that the upcoming smartphone has already generated over 4,500 conversations and 8,790 views on Twitter and 2,700 views on Instagram, making it a buzzing conversation on the sticky subject of smartphone recycling.
"Aiming to drive a one-of-a-kind change towards sustainability, the company took a social-first approach to take the message to the masses, especially youngsters, who are aware and sensitive about climate change and sustainability evangelists of responsible and sustainable technology," the company said in a statement.
The company said that the Uphone is being touted as a future first smartphone that significantly and positively affect the environment.
"Cellphones have a telling negative environmental impact and that's exactly what ControlZ as a brand has taken up as a challenge to change one cell phone at a time and eventually holes that one simple choice can be a giant leap forward to change the ugly underbelly of the global smartphone market," the company said.
"For consumers at large, the UPhone is a revolutionary new smartphone that will be truly exceptional while also allowing them to contribute consciously to the larger good of sustainability and environmental wellbeing," it added.
