Code Name Abdul is spy thriller film directed by Eshwar Gunturu. The film stars Tanishaa Mukerji in the lead role. The film revolves around a secret mission given to RAW.
During her interaction with Newshelpline, we asked Tanishaa to draw a parallel between Code Name Abdul and other thrillers, she said, “The director of the film, Eshwar, he is not from here, so his style is not at all Bollywood, he is more like Hollywood styled director, so we did 20 days’ workshop before the shooting, and then shot for 40 straight days and we remained in characters for the entire time. It is a play, he is more like Quintin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs style filmmaker, so it was fun and refreshing to work like that”
The film also stars Khatera Hakimi, Sumend Wankhade, Ashok Chaudhry, Akku Kulhari, and Anshuman Sharma.
Talking about working with newcomers, Tanishaa said, “With this movie, I think we are introducing largest number of newcomers, starting with writer-director, singer, lyricist, actors, and more, I think 13-14 new people are entering Bollywood with this project”
When asked about her expectation from the film, Tanishaa added, “My expectation, that audience will watch this film with the intention that you’re open to new experience. Lately due to OTT, the palate and sensibilities of audience has expanded, they are open to new ideas and ideologies, this movie is based on terrorism”
The film is now scheduled for theatrically release on 10 December 2021.
