Tabraiz Shamsi Joins Rajasthan Royals
Tabraiz Shamsi, the top T20 bowler, is likely to join Rajasthan Royal for the rest of IPL 2020. This is the second replacement player that the team has signed, the first one being Glenn Phillips.
The Royals are going to be without Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer for the second half of IPL. But the availability of Ben Stokes is still uncertain after he took a break from the game for mental-health reasons. Also, the Royals are going to be without Andrew Tye as he has pulled out of the rest of the season.
With Phillips and Shamsi, the rest of the overseas cricketers remaining in the team are Chris Morris, David Miller, Mustafizur Rahman, and Liam Livingstone. Previously, Gerald Coetzee, the South African quick for the first half. He played as a replacement for Livingstone. However, it is expected that Livingstone will be available in the second half. So, Coetzee is no longer going to be a part of Rajasthan Royals. The team is thus left with 6 overseas players, possibly 7 if Stokes comes back. Hence, there will be one more overseas spot to be filled.
It is going to be the second stint for Shamsi in the IPL. Previously, he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2016. However, in that too, he was the replacement player. He had taken 3 wickets in 4 games and had an economy rate of 9.18.
Until now, he has played 163 T20 cricket games and has taken 183 wickets. In Hundred, which concluded recently, he has taken 7 wickets in 6 games for Oval Invincibles. He is going to become a part of the contingent of wrist spin in the Royals that includes leg spinners Mayank Markande, Shreyas Gopla, Riyan Parag, and Rahul Tewatia.
The team also has many fast-bowling options, even though Tye has pulled out, with Mustafizur and Morris complemented by Jaydev Unadkat, Akash Singh, Kuldip Yadav, Kartik Tyagi, and Chetan Sakariya.
Tye said that being away from home for a long period of time and failing to make it to the T20 World Cup team of Australia were the reasons behind his withdrawal.
Tye has stated that he is pulling out of the IPL 2021 with great regret. He has decided to stay home to prepare himself mentally and physically for another year.
George Garton Replaces Kane Richardson at Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers already have their share of overseas players as they signed George Garton, the left-arm quick bowler, who also can bat a little. Garton is going to replace Kane Richardson from Australia who has already withdrawn himself from the game. For Garton, who is just 24, this is going to be the first IPL season.
Garton has played in 38 T20 matches. He has taken 44 wickets with an economy rate of 8.26 until now. The batting average is 20.77 in the T20 format, and the strike rate is 124.66. In the tournament of Hundred, he played for Southern Brave and took 10 wickets in 9 games at an economy rate of 8.90 and an average of 23.
Sussex has already confirmed that Garton is ready to become a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore after the appearance of Sussex Sharks at Vitality Blast Finals Day on 18th September. The first game of the Royal Challengers in the second half of IPL is on 20th September, against Kolkata Knight Riders.
The franchise has signed Dushmantha Chameera and Wanindu Hasaranga, from Sri Lanka, too. Hasaranga, the leg-spinner is the replacement for Adam Zampa from Australia. Zampa had pulled out of the tournament because of some personal reasons. Tim David has replaced Finn Allen of New Zealand, who is unavailable as he has to play for the national team.
Royal Challengers Bangalore is presently at the third spot with 5 wins in 7 matches. Delhi Capitals have managed to secure the top spot with 6 wins in 8 matches. Excitement is all set to begin in Dubai for the remaining IPL matches
