Two more from Karnataka in Indian contingent for Tokyo Olympics

Mangaluru, (Karnataka) July 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) Dhanalakshmi S and Shubha V, from Alva's College here, have confirmed their place in the 4x400m mixed relay event at the Tokyo Olympics, beginning July 23.

The inclusion of the two has taken the tally of athletes from Karnataka to five.

Both have the experience of participating in several international competitions and have brought laurels to the country. Presently, they have been adopted by Alva's College under the sports quota.

Dr Mohan Alva, the chairman of the foundation, has awarded the two Rs 1 lakh cash prize each following their selection.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had announced that the gold-medal winner will get Rs 5 crore from the state government, while the silver and bronze medallists will get Rs 3 crore and Rs 2 crore respectively.

Shrihari Nataraj (swimming), Aditi Ashok (golf) and Fouaad Mirza (equestrian) are the other sportspersons for the state representing India at the Olympics.
