Veteran actress Surekha Sikri passed away on Friday morning. She suffered a cardiac arrest.
Bollywoood celebrities such as Pooja Bhatt, Manoj Bajpayee, Karenvir Bohra and more took to their social media profile and poured condolences for the celebrated actress.
Actor Pooja Bhatt wrote, “She was a force of nature if ever there was one. Hence I won’t say rest in peace but RAGE in peace Surekhaji. As you did, during your time on earth!”
Actor Manoj Bajpayee also shared, “Very Sad news!!! One of the greatest talent Surekha Sikari ji passed away leaving behind so many great performances in theatre and cinema!! She was a treat to watch on stage. Can’t forget some of those memories of her act in theatre. Great craft and a graceful person!! RIP”
Actor Karenvir Bohra expressed, “Such sad news to hear about #surekhasikhri Ji...Rest in peace Mam”
Sikri was 75 when she breathed her last in Mumbai. In 2020, she had suffered a brain stroke and in 2018, she had gotten a paralytic stroke.
She made her debut with the 1978 political drama film 'Kissa Kursi Ka', and since then she had entertained viewers with her several versatile roles. Her portrayal of a strict grandmother in the hit TV show 'Balika Vadhu' made her extremely popular.
In 2019, she had received the National Film Award for her role in the film 'Badhaai Ho' (2018). She was last seen in Netflix's 'Ghost Stories' (2020).
