Decision on Goa’s border restriction soon: CMO

Panaji, April 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Goa government is expected to soon take a decision on whether to make Covid testing mandatory for travellers entering into the state or not, the Chief Minister's Office said.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday visited the Keri check-post along the Goa-Karnataka border to take stock of the number of vehicles entering into the state.

"Further decision as to whether Covid negative certificate to be taken for persons entering the state will be decided accordingly," a CMO official said on Thursday.

Incoming traffic along Goa's road borders would be monitored for 24 hours to ascertain the number of vehicles arriving in Goa, the official added.

On Wednesday, the Goa government imposed a night curfew banning assembly of people from 10 pm to 6 am.

Casinos and hotel operations have however been exempted from the curfew curbs.

The Opposition has, however, demanded mandatory testing for Covid-19 on the state's borders or visitors should carry their Covid reports before entering to the state.
