Actor Anil Kapoor celebrated 27 years of his patriotic romantic film ‘1942: A Love Story’ on social media on Thursday. It was directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film also starred Jackie Shroff, Manisha Koirala, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa and Pran in key roles.
Sharing snippets from ‘1942: A Love Story’ on his Instagram handle, Anil Kapoor wrote, “Celebrating 27 Years Of 1942 : A Love Story!”. Anil Kapoor’s wife Sunita commented on his post by posting heart emojis.
‘1942: A Love Story’ was the first Indian film to use Dolby Stereo. It was highly acclaimed for its music, songs, picturization, cinematography, lyrics and performances of all actors. The film received thirteen nominations at the 40th Filmfare Awards, winning nine.
The core plot of the movie was reported to be inspired by the 1992 Kannada movie ‘Mysore Mallige’ based on the 1942 work of same title by poet K. S. Narasimhaswamy.
Anil Kapoor will next be seen onscreen in Dharma Productions comedy film ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ alongside Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Neetu Kapoor.
He will also feature in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ which also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra and Bobby Deol in key roles. The film will have Dusshera 2022 release. Kapoor is also a part of Raj Singh Chaudhary’s ‘Thar’ which also features his son Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
