Islamabad, April 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) The visit of the Speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly Asad Qaiser to Afghanistan has been postponed due to security threat, a top official said here on Thursday.
"Speaker's visit to Kabul postponed as airport was closed due to security threat. The plane was about to descent when the control tower informed of the closure of airport. New dates for the visit will be decided after mutual consultations," Special Representative of Pakistan for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq, who is a part of Qaiser's delegation, said in a tweet.
An official from the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul also confirmed to Xinhua news agency that the visit was postponed.
According to the secretariat of the National Assembly, the lower house of Pakistan's Parliament, Qaiser was originally scheduled to pay a three-day official visit to Afghanistan on Thursday for talks on bilateral relations, focusing on ways to enhance ties between the parliaments of both countries.
The secretariat said that Qaiser was heading a nine-member delegation and they would hold meetings with Speaker of Wolesi Jirga or the lower house of the Afghan Parliament Mir Rahman Rahmani and others.
