The makers of RRR had previously announced that the film will be releasing on 13th October this year. But things have changed drastically after the north India distribution rights of the film were sold to Pen Studios for a whopping price.
The makers of RRR will now have to plan an optimal release date with Hindi circuit in mind.
Of late, Bollywood films have been underperforming at the box office as the audiences are not willing to step out to watch movies in theatres, fearing potential threat of contracting Covid-19. The makers of A-lister films are now having to reschedule their releases. Same might be the case with RRR as well. The film will be releasing only after normalcy is restored and Hindi market is back to full glory.
So, the chances of RRR being postponed to January 2022 are substantially higher. In all likelihood the film will be releasing only during next Sankranthi season.
Coming to the domestic market, Pawan Kalyan’s Hara Hara Veera Mallu and Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata have already locked Sankranthi release. But they might have to alter their plans if RRR locks Sankranthi release. Clashing with a highly anticipated film like RRR can dent the box office prospects of Hara Hara Veera Mallu and Sarkaru Vaari Paata so we can expect the producers to change their release dates of RRR is locked for next Sankranthi.
