Patna, April 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar Police on Thursday managed to arrest most wanted Guddu Sharma alias Navlesh Sharma, who was involved in the infamous 2005 Jehanabad jail break case.
Sharma, a Maoist leader, was arrested from Bhagwanganj police station area in Patna district following a tip off.
"Guddu was involved in the jail break of November 13, 2005. He was absconding for one and half decade. He used to shift locations in short intervals making it extremely tough for security agencies to track him," said an official of STF requested anonymity.
According to STF official, Sharma is one of the key members of regional Maoist committee in the state. "He has disclosed some information about the Maoist movement in Bihar which may help crack the network and identify sympathizers who provide logistic support to them in affected districts," he said.
Sharma was a key conspirator and executor of the November 13, 2005 jail break when Maoists ran amok in Jehanabad jail setting free over 340 inmates, leaving the entire city terrorized.
They killed several security guards and prison officers and helped escape the likes of Ajay Kanu, among top naxalists.
Some of the escapees later surrendered before police but 130 never return. They were declared fugitive.
