Superstar Aamir Khan, who has recently quit social media, has said that now media’s responsibility has increased as media would be the only connecting factor between him and his fans. He added saying that he quit social media because he wasn’t active on it and he urged media not to create their own theories behind his sudden decision.
Aamir Khan was interacting with News Helpline at the special screening of ‘Koi Jaane Na’ along with film’s actor Amyra Dastur and director Amin Hajee in Mumbai.
Aamir Khan, a man of few posts, has "decided to drop the pretence" and quit social media. The actor made the announcement a day after his 56th birthday, writing tongue-in-cheek that he took the decision because he is "SO active anyway." The Dangal star thanked fans for their birthday wishes before announcing his intention to log off permanently. "Hey guys, thank you so much for all the love and warmth on my birthday. My heart is full. In other news, this is going to be my last post on social media. Considering that I am SO active anyway, I have decided to drop the pretence," Aamir Khan wrote.
All things Aamir will now be shared via the official handle of his production house, Aamir Khan Productions. "We will continue to communicate as we did before. In addition, Aamir Khan Productions (AKP) has created its official channel. So, future updates on me and my films can be found there...Lots of love," Aamir wrote.
When asked Khan is there any specific reason behind deactivating his personal Instagram handle, he said, “You (media) don’t create your own theories for it. I am always busy in my own work and company. Where do you see me on social media? I thought that I am not very active on it, so I decided to quit it.”
Making a sarcastic comment on the media persons, Khan said, “I am here only. I am not going anywhere. Before the existence of social media, we used to communicate with each other. Now the media's role has increased because now I will be able to talk to my audience through the media so you (media) should feel more happy about it. I have full faith in the media.”
On film front, Aamir Khan will next be seen in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, which will release on Christmas this year. The film is a Hindi remake of the 1994 Hollywood film ‘Forrest Gump’, which starred Tom Hanks in the lead role.
