Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro flew over flood-hit areas in the northwest of the country on Wednesday.
At least 120,000 residents of the impoverished state of Acre have been affected by the floods.
Heavy rains have overflowed the Acre River, causing it to burst its banks in several areas and flooding neighbourhoods and nearby streets.
This natural disaster comes as the government struggles with Covid-19, an outbreak of dengue fever and a backlog of desperate Haitian migrants trapped on the border with Peru.
Health Minister Eduardo Pazuello assured residents that the federal government was prepared to meet all the challenges facing the state.
He also said authorities are seeing immigrants having an impact on health issues" at a gathering of reporters at the Rio Branco Airport.
According to meteorologists, the state of Acre is on "orange alert" for excessive precipitations for at least the next week, which will hamper relief efforts in the flooded state.
