Singer Sukhwinder Singh, who has been associated with musical talent hunt named ‘Shaurya’, has said that upcoming show will promote talented youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He added saying that he is associated with the show because of his love for music and people of northern state.

Sukhwinder Singh was interacting with News Helpline at the song shoot of music talent hunt ‘Shaurya’ on Monday in Mumbai.

‘Shaurya’ is one of the biggest musical talent hunts of Jammu and Kashmir conceptualized and organized by Mausiqui Studios with active support from local administrations and Bollywood celebrities like Sukhwinder Singh and Dilshaad Shabbir Shaikh.

Talking about the show, Singh said, “I don’t think we should call it a talent hunt because we are not on a hunt for any animal over here, so we should call it a talent contest. I feel every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir has every right to lead his or her life peacefully and happily. We are praying for peace and prosperity of kids, Jammu and Kashmir and people of our country through this show and the song which we are shooting over here. We are trying to promote the talent of young Kashmiris through our show. There is an entertainment factor in the show but we are not bringing that usual twist and turns which we often see in a television reality show.”

He added, “I know when you are hosting a reality show a lot of money is involved in it but I think we shouldn’t run behind money, so we are not trying to earn money through this show otherwise we will not be able to achieve the main motive of creating this show. We are doing this show just for our love for the music and for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Organizers of the show stated that Jammu city auditions will be on January 7-8, 2021 at Abhinav Theatre while Srinagar city auditions on January 10-11, 2021 at SKICC. The final performance will be held on January 18 at Srinagar in which the winning talents will perform with Sukhwinder Singh.

They further stated that the contestants should be a permanent resident of Jammu & Kashmir or born in the Union Territory and he or she should be in the age group of 18-35 years and should be a vocalist or any instrument player.

Singh is internationally known for singing "Jai Ho" from the film Slumdog Millionaire which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. He has won the National Film Award for best playback singing for the song 'Bismil' from Haider in 2015. He has sung several songs in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Kannada and Marathi films.

Talking about his journey as a singer in the film industry, Singh, said, “I feel there are many shades of music like entertainment, spirituality, social service and many others. I have sung sports, motivational, dance, romantic songs in my career, so I think associating with such initiatives is like my responsibility. We shouldn’t think that only a certain group, section or professional should work for the betterment of the country, I think we all have certain responsibility towards our society and country and I am glad that I have been able to fulfill that responsibility through my work which is creating music.”
