Ahead of Company Secretary (CS) examinations which are scheduled to begin from December 21, candidates have demanded that the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) either postpone examinations or conduct a second cycle in February so that they don’t have to wait for another six months to appear for exams.
They said that as exams will be conducted continuously for 10 days, there is a possibility that many candidates might contract the Covid-19 virus or develop symptoms during examinations making them ineligible to appear for the remaining examinations.
“Already CS Students lost six months as exams which were supposed to be held in June 2020 are being held now in December. If a candidate is Covid-19 positive or they have any symptoms then they will not be allowed to appear for the exam. Why not give them another chance in February? What if we get infected during the examinations,” questioned Harsh Bisaria, NSUI Social Media National Vice Chairman
Further, he said that Students are continuously posting and mailing their concerns on social media, NSUI along with CS students raised their voice on Social Media last Sunday and it was trending 3rd in India on Twitter as well as but ICSI are not ready to respond to them. Candidates should be given an option to voluntarily opt-out of the exam even without submitting a Covid-19 positive certificate. He also questioned why the ICSI is hellbent on conducting exams in December when the Govt canceled the winter session of parliament due to Covid-19 and Covid-19 vaccine is likely to be available in Jan/Fab.
Candidates also pointed out that several exams including Joint Entrance Examinations, Chartered Accountant (CA) exams were conducted in phases this year and some exams like Cost Accountant are conducted both online and offline.
