Regional films are not being ignored by the audience says Shehzad Deol

Former ‘Bigg Boss 14’ contestant Shehzad Deol feels that regional films are not being ignored by audience in the country. He said that if a film’s content is good then audience accepts the film wholeheartedly. He also praised his contemporary Diljit Dosanjh for extending his support to farmers who are currently protesting at Delhi border against the new farm bill.

Shehzad Deol was interacting with the media on Wednesday in Mumbai.

Shehzad belongs to the state of Punjab when asked whether he thinks that regional cinema is being ignored in today’s time, he said, “I don’t think regional films are being ignored in today’s day and age. Today, a regional film industry (Punjabi) has been on a national front. If you see the way Diljit Dosanjh came out in support of farmers, the entire nation praised him for that. He represents Punjabi film industry and Kangana Ranaut has countrywide reach but look who is being praised by people."

He added, "We (Punjab) are a small state but today, we have been able to shake the entire nation because who are fighting for a right cause similarly, if we make the right content and provide good message then people will definitely watch regional films. Marathi film industry has produced a film like ‘Sairat’ and Punjabi film industry has produced films like ‘Carry On Jatta’ and ‘Jatt & Juliet’, it did well because these films were really good, so wherever you will make good content people are going to accept that wholeheartedly.”

Shehzad came into the limelight after his appearance in the TV reality shows ‘Ace of Space Season 1’ and emerged as a finalist.

He participated in various modeling shows like ‘Top Model India Season 1’ and Model Hunt Show where he secured the second place. In 2020, he participated in the television reality show ‘Bigg Boss 14’ as a contestant.

When asked Shehzad how his life has changed since his appearance in ‘Bigg Boss 14’, he said, “My life has changed a lot since my stint in ‘Bigg Boss’. Earlier also, I did a few reality shows but they didn’t have that kind of reach as compared with ‘Bigg Boss’. Overnight, people have started recognizing me and they ask me to click pictures with them. Now, people have started offering me good work and I have the power to choose my choice of work between those projects, so ‘Bigg Boss’ has given fame, power and wisdom. When you stay in ‘Bigg Boss’ house for a certain period of time then it teaches you how to behave with people and how to make calculative decisions and that helps a lot in the film industry.”

Talking about his upcoming projects, Shehzad said, “I have just completed shooting two music videos and another one is in the process as we are speaking. I am in talks for a web series with a Punjabi channel, so let’s see what happens on that front.”
