Ex-Brazil boss Luxemburgo stable after contracting Covid-19 twice

Rio de Janeiro, Dec 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) Former Brazil and Real Madrid manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo is in a stable condition at a Sao Paulo hospital after contracting Covid-19 for a second time, doctors have said.

The 68-year-old was admitted to the Sirio-Libanes clinic on December 11 after complaining of severe body and head aches. A statement released by the hospital on Tuesday said he was breathing without any assistance and continues to be monitored, reports Xinhua news agency.

"The patient must remain hospitalised...and is being accompanied by the medical team," the statement said, adding that a discharge date had not been set.

The veteran coach was asymptomatic during his first bout of the virus in July.

Luxemburgo is the only manager to win five Brazilian Serie A titles. He was Brazil's national team boss from 1998 to 2000 and had an 11-month spell in charge of Real Madrid in 2005.

His most recent head coaching role was with Palmeiras, with whom he parted ways in October.
