Domestic game in SA called off after player tests positive

Centurion (South Africa), Dec 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) A domestic cricket game in South Africa between Titans and Dolphins was on Monday called off after one of the Dolphins players tested positive for Covid-19.

Titans had made 269/9 on the first day. However, the game was abandoned even before the second day could get underway.

The two teams have six players who are part of the South Africa squad that plays Sri Lanka in a two-Test series next month. While Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar and Lungi Ngidi were part of the Titans XI, Keshav Maharaj, Sarel Erwee and Keegan Petersen were representing the Dolphins.

Both teams will now be tested to check if any of the players needs to be isolated.

"We will test all the Dolphins players to determine if they need to quarantine in Centurion before returning to Durban, and we will test the Titans players as well. We have got a number of players in the Proteas squad. I don't think it will have an impact on the Sri Lanka series but we will have to wait to make a decision," Dr Shuaib Manjra, the chief medical officer of Cricket South Africa, was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.com.

Sri Lanka Cricket have said that they are closely monitoring the situation in South Africa after England had pulled out of the ODI leg of their limited-overs tour of South Africa this month.
