Heavy security deployment in MP mandis amid Bharat Bandh

Bhopal, Dec 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Amid the 'Bharat Bandh' call by the farmers on Tuesday across the borders of the national capital and its neighbouring states, there has been an increase in the deployment of police in the mandis (markets) of Madhya Pradesh with a strict vigil on people coming from outside.

The farmers are protesting against the three agricultural laws passed by the Central government seems to have a lukewarm impact in Madhya Pradesh. The Bharat Bandh would be held from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m.

Farmers' organisations have called for 'Bharat Bandh' on Tuesday which have also garnered support of many political parties, including the Congress. The work in the Bhopal mandis during the morning went as usual just like normal days. Farmers from many places said they would stop working after 11 am.

The Congress has called for a major protest in Indore with a large number of leaders from the party taking to the streets. However, this bandh has not received the support from traders. Former Congress cabinet minister Sajjan Singh Verma has demanded that traders support the movement and realise that when farmers are affected, their businesses will also get affected. Keeping in view the protest march by the Congress, police personnel have been heavily deployed in the Anaj mandi and Chawni mandi areas of Sanyogitaganj in Indore.

Similarly, in other parts of the state, mandis functioned just like normal days during the morning hours. At the same time, there was no impact on the lives of traders selling their produce in mandis. Conditions are normal at places such as Gwalior, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Sagar etc. Though, heavy deployment of police personnel on the routes coming towards Bhopal to prevent any person coming from outside the state.
