New Delhi, Dec 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) on Monday decided to lend its support to the farmers' protest by joining the call for Bharat Bandh given by various farmers' unions on Tuesday.
Rajiv Khosla, chief co-ordinator of the action committee of BCD, said in a statement: "The leaders of the bar associations addressed the farmers at Singhu border and told them that the legal fraternity will intensify the agitation at all-India level if the demands of the farmers are not met. Meanwhile, the co-ordination committee of the bar associations of Delhi have decided to hold protest on December 8 against the farm laws in all the court complexes."
The BCD said the legal fraternity fully supports the demand of the farmers and urged the government to consider the genuine demands of the farmer community.
"The legal fraternity is astonished as to how the government without discussion with the farmers as well as the representatives of the bar have gone ahead to enact the farm laws," added Khosla.
The BCD insisted that the legal fraternity, after examining the laws, have found them to be unreasonable, arbitrary and unjust.
"The exclusion of tomato, potato and onion from the Essential Commodities Act will make these essential items out of reach for the public," said Sanjeev Nasiar, Chairman of the co-ordination committee of the All Bar Associations of Delhi.
He added that on one hand the farmers will not get any guarantee for MSP, and on the other hand they will not get justice with regard to any dispute raised on any issue as the jurisdiction of the civil court is barred and the adjudication rights have been given to the SDM and the ADM who directly work under the dictate of the ministers and MLAs.
Citing these major loopholes in the recently enacted farm laws, the lawyers' association said that it will join the Bharat Bandh on December 8 and protest in farmers' favour in all the courts.
