New Delhi, Dec 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Even as farmer leaders boarded buses on Singhu border to leave for Vigyan Bhavan here to hold talks with the Centre on Saturday afternoon, they asserted that it would be the final round of parleys and warned of intensifying their agitation if no results were forthcoming.
The meeting between the farmer leaders of 35 organisations with several central Ministers is slated to begin at 2 pm.
Ahead of the meeting, the farmer leaders clearly said that no further negotiations or "amendments" to the farm laws would be acceptable and if the final round of dialogue remained inconclusive, their agitation would gain pace and grow even bigger.
Speaking to IANS, Boota Singh, National President, Kisan Ekta Manch, said: "We had earlier told them (government) that these laws should be taken back and the agitation will end there and then."
"We won't be happy with any amendments and are very clear on our stand that the laws should be taken back," he added.
Another delegation member Daljeet Singh said that whenever they go for the meetings with the Centre, they are hopeful that their demands are met.
"However, the government is not ready for it. So, if today's meeting remains inconclusive, the agitation will be intensified more and more and we will call for a 'Bharat Bandh' too," he warned.
As the protests against the farm laws continued for the 10th consecutive day on the Delhi-Haryana's Singhu border, Delhi Police beefed up security with more rows of barricades ahead of Saturday's meeting.
Delhi's Commissioner of Police is keeping a close watch on the law and order on the borders as protesting farmers had threatened to enter the national capital.
The farmers are protesting against The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020; Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
