I am playing very innocent and endearing character in ‘Mismatched’ says Vidya Malavade

Actress Vidya Malavade, who has featured in Netflix recently released show titled ‘Mismatched’, has said that she is playing very endearing and innocent character in the show. She added that she had fun being a part of the show and she hoped that audience will appreciate her performance in it.

Vidya Malavade was interacting with the media to promote her recently released web series titled ‘Mismatched’ on Friday in Mumbai.

In ‘Mismatched’, Vidya plays the role of an older student Zeenat Karim, struggling to find her feet and adapt in the new, evolving world.

Talking about her character in the series, Vidya said, “I got on board for ‘Mismatched’ just two days before we started shooting for it. So, there was no time for me to prepare for my character. My character in the series belongs to Hyderabad, so it was an impossible task for me to get nuances right in such a short period of time. Then, we decided to bring a Lucknowi accent in my performance.”

She added, “When I play a character, I always try to add something from my side. For me, Zeenat was extremely endearing and innocent even if she is older than all the guys who are studying in the college. She is a little clumsy because she is trying to fit in with the rest of them as well. She has taken a decision to study in a college and to follow her dreams at the 35-40 years of age. I had so much fun doing this character and I hope that the audience would like it.”

Based on the book "When Dimple met Rishi" by Sandhya Menon, the series follows the journey of college students as they navigate through love, life and friendship. It also stars Prajakta Koli, Rohit Saraf, Vihaan Samat, Taaruk Raina, Kritika Bharadwaj, Rannvijay Singha, Muskkaan Jaferi, Devyani Shorey and Abhinav Sharma.

‘Mismatched’ is directed by Akarsh Khurana and Nipun Dharmadhikari and produced by RSVP Movies.

The series has started streaming on Netflix from 20th November.
