Amaravati, Nov 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is expected to finalise the candidate for Tirupati Lok Sabha bye-elections soon, as the party leaders have entrusted the job to him.
Tirupati Lok Sabha seat fell vacant recently due to the untimely demise of B. Durga Prasad, who succumbed to coronavirus.
On Thursday, Reddy held a meeting with party leaders on whom to choose as the candidate for the bypoll, whose schedule is yet to be announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Reddy deliberated with deputy chief minister K. Narayana Swami, Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, Balineni Srinivas Reddy, Kodali Nani, Anil Kumar Yadav and Botsa Satyanarayana.
He also met with MPs Venkata Ramana, Vemireddy Prabakar Reddy and MLAs Kakani Goverdhan Reddy, Varaprasad, B. Madhusudhan Reddy, K. Adimulam and others.
Incidentally, all the leaders entrusted the job of choosing a candidate with the chief minister for the SC reserved constituency.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president Nara Chandrababu Naidu has already announced Panabaka Lakshmi as their candidate for the by-poll.
The forthcoming election will be a test of the YSRCP regime's popularity, giving a hint of the pulse of the people. It will prove to be a barometer of the popularity and acceptance of the umpteen welfare schemes being doled out by Reddy.
Already, many TDP activists have prophesised that the YSRCP government will be a one-term wonder.
In the same way, TDP and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can also measure their future prospects with the outcome of the Tirupati bye-election, enabling them to fine tune their future strategy as well.
