Gurugram police crack woman’s murder, nab 3 accused

Gurugram, Nov 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a major breakthrough in a murder case of a woman which took place on November 3, the crime branch unit of the Sector-40 police station arrested three dreaded criminals on Wednesday night.

The accused had allegedly shot the victim during a failed robbery bid, the police said.

According to the police, the arrested accused were involved in more than 100 cases of looting, snatching and Arms Act. A Maruti Swift car has also been recovered from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Irshad alias Golu of Nuh, Jitender alias Jeetu, the kingpin of Narnaul in Mahendragarh and Hariom aka Kuldeep of Datia district in Madhya Pradesh.

The accused were arrested on Wednesday from Dev Nagar colony in Bhondsi village after a specific inputs received by the investigation team.

"During questioning the accused disclosed that on November 3 they were on thier bike and later on they intercepted Hyundai Creta car on Golf Course extension road to rob the car occupants but the woman who was driving the car tried to speed away following which they shot the woman and fled the spot," said Preet Pal Sangwan, ACP (crime).

The accused also revealed that they just wanted to rob the car occupants but unfortunately, the bullet hit the woman.

The crime took place on the southern peripheral road (SPR) near Sector-65 at around 11.15 pm on November 3. When she was traveling along with her friend Sagar Manchanda (29) in his Hyundai Creta.

She worked as an MNC executive in a private firm and Manchanda, a software engineer, was his colleague.

She was allegedly shot by three unidentified assailants in a bid to snatch her Hyundai Creta car and died on November 5 during treatment at a private hospital in Gurugram.

A team from the Sector-65 police station was probing the matter along with the crime branch of sector-40.

"During investigation the investigation team had also scanned around 500 CCTV footage of several locations but didn't get clear pici of the culprits,' Sangwan said.

The police said that the accused usually targeted people at isolated stretches and conducted recce of the area before targeting their victims.

"In this murder case the accused used a motorcycle with a fake number plate. They had visited the spot in their car soon after the shooting incident to look after the woman that she had survived. They were watching TV news channels and reading newspaper papers to get updates about the case," police said.

"The accused had even shot dead one of their friend Gaurav on Diwali night at Shivaji Nagar in Gurugram following an old enmity, the police added.

"The culprits will be produced before a local court on Thursday and we will seek police remand. During interrogation, the police will try to recover the murder weapon used in the crime. Further probe is on," Sangwan added.

The police had registered a case of murder (302), Arms Act 25 (1-B)(A) and common intention (34) of the IPC at Sector-65 police station.
