5 held for selling land on forged documents in Dehradun

New Delhi, Nov 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Five members of a gang have been arrested by the Delhi Police Crime Branch for selling a property in Dehradun using forged documents.

After fraudulently acquiring Rs 2 crore from the victim, the accused switched off their mobile phones and fled.

A Delhi-based doctor allegedly met a person named Vinod Thapa at a social gathering, who introduced himself as a property dealer and informed the complainant that he worked for a group of real estate companies.

During one such meeting, Thapa informed the complainant that a plot at a prime location in Dehradun was available at a cheap and lucrative price, whose owner was willing to sell it and offered the complainant to purchase the plot for him.

Thapa said he would identify the subsequent purchasers for the plot in the time available for making the full payment and accordingly, apart from making the initial investment, no further money would have to be paid by the complainant.

Thapa also offered to make an equal investment in the project. He told the complainant that he would enter into an agreement with the sellers on initial payment.

Thapa introduced one Rajan Sharma to the complainant, posing him as working in the same real estate company for which he also worked as a broker for various high-profile politicians and businessmen.

In February and March 2018, the complainant visited Dehradun several times on Thapa's request, where the later introduced bogus persons to the complainant and executed a six-sale agreement with him.

"By this modus operandi, the complainant was made to enter into six similar agreements and transferred nearly Rs 2 crore in the bank accounts of accused persons in lieu of the above land deals. After receiving the money, all the accused fled after switching off their mobile phones.

"Later, the complainant came to know that the property papers shown to him were forged and either the land did not exist, or there was a dispute over the land title. The five accused have been arrested," said Rakesh Paweriya, DCP, Crime Branch, Delhi Police.
