New Delhi, Nov 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Days ahead of Diwali, the Delhi Police has seized 423.8 kg firecrackers that were stored or sold without licence and booked and arrestd two persons in this regard in West and Outer-North Districts, a senior police officer said on Friday.
In first case, Special Staff from West police district conducted a raid after a secret information that one Sanjay was holding a huge illegal stock of firecrackers for sale at his shop in Raghubir Nagar.
Sanjay Kumar, 47, a resident of Raghubir Nagar in Khayla area, was apprehended from his shop. He is allegedly involved in four other cases.
A total of 414.6 kg of illegal firecrackers and explosive were seized from him.
"He was also found involved previously in four cases, of which two relate to the Explosives Act. In this regard, a case under Section 9B(1) of the Explosives Act and 336/286 of the IPC was registered at Khyala police station," the officer said.
In another case, while patrolling in Nehru Enclave, a police team found Vishnu Dutt, 60, allegedly selling illegal firecrackers on a footpath. He is a resident of Nawal Park in Alipur.
From his possession, 9.2 kg firecrackers were seized. A case under Sections 5/9B(1) of the Explosives Act and 286 of the IPC has been registered at Alipur police station.
The Delhi government has imposed a blanket ban on the sale of firecrackers in the national capital from November 7 to 30 due to a sharp rise in air pollution ahead of Diwali. According to a government statement, the ban will also cover green crackers.
