Zahara Sethjiwala, who is currently seen in ‘Happu Ki Ultan Pultan’, strongly believes that along with talent, one also needs the knowledge to excel. And so, over the past few years, the actress has spent considerable time learning about world cinema, directors, and art. While it sounds impressive, Zahara says that the credit for igniting her thirst for knowledge goes to her mother and brother.
She shares, “I am an actor because of my mom. She is the one who spotted the talent in me when I used to mimic my teachers and act in school skits. She knew some people in the industry and started taking me to Mumbai (from Indore) during every vacation so that I could see shoots. That’s when I decided that I, too, want to be an actor. After I made up my mind, I took it so seriously that I shifted my focus to studying cinema. And, my brother helped me a lot with it. He would suggest the names of the movies I should watch, the interviews I should listen to, the books I should read, and the people I should know. That’s how I started learning not only about acting, but what all it takes to become an actor.”
Ask Zahara what she is watching these days, and she replies, “Currently, I am watching a show on Netflix, titled ‘The Creative Indians’. It showcases the journeys of some of the best names from across various fields and I am hooked to it. I just finished watching the episodes featuring Imitiaz Ali sir, Nawazuddin Siddiqui sir and Boman Irani sir --- some of the artists I look up to --- and there are a lot more.”
