Bengaluru, Oct 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Bengaluru police have arrested former BJP councillor B. K. Venkatesh following a complaint filed by the Karnataka state unit Congress leaders.
The Congress party including Leader of the Opposition, Siddaramaiah had launched widespread campaign against BJP leaders, that they were "preventing" the Congress to carry out their campaign in election bound R.R. Nagar Assembly constituency.
During a campaign on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah was allegedly being obstructed by a group of youths who had raised 'Modi Modi' slogans. This continued for a large part of his rally in Yeshwanthpur.
Irate, Siddaramaiah dialled up Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Panth on Tuesday to highlight that the police on duty have turned mute spectators. Soon after the call, the police intervened and allowed Siddarmaiah's motorcade to complete their campaign.
On Wednesday morning, Congress leaders from Yeshwantpur lodged a formal complaint accusing that this was handiwork of former BJP corporator Venkatesh and his supporters.
According to the police, Venkatesh was arrested but was later released on bail.
