SP Balasubrahmanyam Passes Away, Celebrities Pours Condolences

Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam and the voice of Bollywood actor Salman Khan passed away today after a long battle with the corona-virus.

 

The singer, SPB who was admitted to MGM Healthcare on August 5 for Covid-19, was on life support due to his extremely critical condition in the last few days.

Bollywood and Tollywood Celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Mahesh Babu, Hema Malini and poured condolences for the prolific singer.

Salman Khan expressed his sadness on his Twitter profile. He tweeted, “Heartbroken to hear about #SPBalasubrahmanyam sir... you will forever live on in your undisputed legacy of music! Condolence to the family #RIP”

Hema Malini tweeted, "End of an era! Versatile musical genius passes away. SP Balasubramaniam succumbs to the terrible covid virus after a prolonged battle in hospital. God give him peace. He will be missed by all"

Akshay Kumar wrote, "Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Balasubrahmanyam ji.Just a few months back I’d interacted with him during a virtual concert in this lockdown..he seemed hale,hearty & his usual legendary self...life is truly unpredictable. My thoughts & prayers with his family"

Mahesh Babu tweeted, "Unable to process the fact that #SPBalasubramaniam garu is no more. Nothing will ever come close to that soulful voice of his. Rest in peace sir. Your legacy will live on. Heartfelt condolences and strength to the family.

The veteran singer popularly known as SPB has recorded over 40,000 songs in 16 Indian languages and holds the Guinness World Record for recording the highest number of songs by a singer. He has won the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer six times, the Filmfare Award seven times for his work across many industries, the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards four times, the Government of Andhra Pradesh's Nandi Awards 25 times, and the Karnataka State Film Awards three times. He was also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan (2011) and Padmashri (2001) from the Government of India.

He is survived by his wife Savithri and two children — daughter Pallavi and son SP Charan.
