Actress Dia Mirza shared a detailed statement of her social media handles on Tuesday stating that she has never procured or consumed any narcotic or contraband substance of any form in her life. She added that she intends to pursue legal action against certain media houses that have dragged her name in the ongoing drug controversy in the Hindi film industry.
On Tuesday, some news reports claimed that Dia’s name came up during the interrogation of drug peddlers and she might be called in for questioning by the Narcotics Control Bureau to investigate Bollywood’s alleged drug links.
Responding to that, Dia shared an official statement on her Instagram page, it reads, “I would like to strongly refute and categorically deny this news as being false, baseless and with mala fide intentions. Such frivolous reporting has a direct impact on my reputation being besmirched and is causing damage to my career which I have painstakingly built with years of hard work. I have never procured or consumed any narcotic or contraband substances of any form in my life. I intend to pursue the full extent of legal remedies available to me as a law abiding citizen of India. Thanks to my supporters for standing by me”.
Several bollywood celebrities like Malaika Arora, Radhika Apte, Pallavi Sharda, Amrita Puri and Pavail Gulati extended their support to Dia in the comment section.
Bollywood’s alleged drug links have come under the scanner during an investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty was arrested earlier this month for procuring drugs and is currently lodged at Byculla jail.
According to latest media reports Bollywood’s top actresses like Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh might be summoned by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for questioning in the ongoing case.
