Watch Out For This Versatile Movie Actress Who’s Been On Most Of The Hit Digital Shows

In compliance with the guidelines of the government to contain COVID-19, theatres will remain closed for a while, but that has not curbed the need for entertainment. While the digital platforms have spruced up their game to entertain people, there's a particular movie actress, who has become one of the most prominent faces of the OTT space. She is the versatile actress, Anupria Goenka, known for her performances in War, Tiger Zinda Hai and Padmaavat. She has gone from strength to strength and marked her presence across all platforms. Here are some of her shows that deserve to be on your quarantine must-watch list.

Sacred Games

Hailed as of the first biggest digital successes in the country, this show is a must-watch for anyone who loves suspense and cliffhangers. The series revolves around a police officer, Sartaj Singh who while on a hunt for a criminal overlord, discovers the underworld web. Anupria essays the role of Megha Singh, Sartaj Singh's ex-wife. A lot of emotional turmoil in the police officer's personal life is on account of his failed relationship with Megha. Goenka's character is a major part of his catharsis and she becomes very crucial in his actions as the series progresses. The series has inspired pop culture references and sprung up a meme fest that has only scaled its buzz worldwide.

 

Criminal Justice

One show that has had digital viewers on the edge of their seats is Criminal Justice. It is based on Criminal Justice by Peter Moffat, adapted for India by Shridhar Raghavan and directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Furia. The plot of the series revolves around a cab driver who stands accused of the rape and murder of a girl he had a one-night-stand with on the night of the two crimes. Anupria essays the role of his lawyer, Nikhat Hussain. The 10-episode series features the dynamic performer as a fresh law graduate and highlights her stint in the world of crime and justice. Reviewed positively, Goenka's portrayal is of a naive and simple law professional, who finds her space and understands how the world of law and crime works.

Asur: Welcome To Your Dark Side

Unique in genre, Asur: Welcome To Your Dark Side took the digital world by storm when it streamed. The OTT series follows Nikhil Nair, a forensic-expert-turned-teacher, who returns to his roots at the Central Bureau of Investigation and finds himself caught in a cat-and-mouse game with a brutal serial killer along with his former mentor, Dhananjay Rajpoot. In this blend of suspense, mythology and the murders, Anupria embodies the character of Naina Nair, Nikhil's wife. Goenka's character has duality as she has a lot at stake as a wife and is a tech nerd who helps the forensic team crack the case. The biggest reason for watching this series is that it’s one of the firsts to have brought a mythological angle into a psycho-thriller, which pans out as a battle of wits.

Fuh Se Fantasy

Available on Voot, Fuh Se Fantasy has been quite popular on the OTT platform. Its story showcases the delight in modern relationships that dare to explore their deepest and quirkiest desires. Helming "Not Vanilla" which is a sweet twist to an unusual story, Anupriya brings out the quirks of love through her character in Fuh Se Fantasy. The highlight of the series is that it depicts relations with a twist of adventure and well, fun and glamour.

Abhay

A nail-biting and edge-of-the-seat crime-thriller web series, Abhay is one of the most-watched series on ZEE5. The story revolves around the life of Abhay (essayed by Kunal Kemmu), an investigation officer who is fighting his personal demons while solving the case of missing children. Anupria Goenka appears in the series in Episode 3. For the first time, she is seen essaying a negative character. She plays a menacing criminal - Supriya, who commits murders remorselessly.

The Final Call

The Final Call is a web-television thriller series. It is a rendition of the novel I Will Go with You: The Flight of a Lifetime written by Priya Kumar. The series circles around the passengers of a Mumbai to Sydney flight; amid the commute, their lives are endangered after the captain decides to commit suicide on board. Making for a perfect weekend binge, the show has Anupria in the role of Parineeta, the head air-hostess on the flight. Goenka is a scene-stealer as the fun-loving girl, who loves her job and has a presence of mind.

Aashram

Aashram met with massive digital success as it raked in 100 million streams in five days. The story of the series helmed by Prakash Jha revolves around a self-styled godman, Baba Nirala, who leads an Aashram that serves as a cover for the heinous crimes he commits. In the series, Anupria plays the role of Dr. Natasha, a forensic expert who assists in the investigation of evidence that points towards the renowned Aashram. The actress does a commendable job as a strong woman and shares great chemistry with Deepak Kumar, who plays a cop in the series.

Anupria's upcoming projects include Nagesh Kukunoor's Maya, in which she plays the lead role, Mere Desh Ki Dharti (as lead), a film produced by Carnival Motion Pictures, and Criminal Justice Season 2 (currently being shot).
